‘AUGUSTUS’ SUPERB LARGE OLD STEIFF BEAR WITH BUTTON & STOCK LABEL
Augustus is a really beautiful large old Steiff bear from the 1950s –early 60s. He is an impressive size standing at 25” (65cm) He is fully jointed, with mohair fur, and original felt paw pads. A stitched nose, mouth, and claws. He has a large Steiff button in his ear (raised script, thin letters) with part of his yellow cloth stock label. The Ean stock number has faded but you can just about read it as 5365:02 dates him to being made 1959-1965. His growler no longer works but you can still hear it when you turn him.
His mohair has gently age mellowed over the years, with excellent coverage see photos.
He has been very well cared for over the years and has taken on his own unique character and expression which is just adorable. He is very clean, from a smoke-free home.
