‘RAFFERTY’ ADORABLE LARGE OLD 1950S STEIFF BEAR 25″ (65cm)
Rafferty is a very special and rare old Steiff bear made shortly after the end of WW2. He would have been a very expensive bear and a treasured gift to a child. He has had quite an adventurous life and has travelled a lot including Europe, USA and now England for a while.
He is a large bear with a big personality, he is a bear who likes to be part of the family. Few of these large Steiff remain and each one is their own unique character. He has the slouchy appearance of the earlier bears.
About Rafferty… he has thick, fluffy, light brown mohair fur with a frosted sheen. His eyes are glass, he has a stitched nose, mouth and claws. He has wood wool stuffing and felt paw pads. Height to the top of his ears standing is 25″ (64cm). He no longer has a button in his ear or tags (they were often removed for safety reasons before giving to children). For his age, he is in lovely, good, clean condition. Some age-related fur discolouration on his back and legs. Which is more noticeable in daylight. His felt paw pads are original, with some marks on them.
